How to Embed an Email Signup Form on a Static Site
No affiliate links. Steps for Kit follow Kit's own form embedding basics; most email platforms work the same way.
Why static sites are easy
A static site (plain HTML on Cloudflare Pages, GitHub Pages and similar) has no server code, so the email platform hosts the form backend. You only paste a snippet into your page.
Step 1: Build the form in your email platform
In Kit, forms live under Grow → Landing Pages & Forms. Choose an inline form for a page or post; modal and slide-in forms are better saved for later. Keep it to one field (email) plus a first name at most.
Step 2: Pick an embed type
- JavaScript embed (Kit's recommended option): a short HTML snippet that loads the form, so edits you make in Kit show up automatically.
- Raw HTML: full form markup you can restyle, but you must re-paste it after every change in Kit.
- Share link: a hosted URL you can link from a button if you don't want any code on the page.
Step 3: Paste it into your HTML
Put the snippet where the form should appear — commonly at the end of each article and on the home page. On a template-based static site, add it once to the template (or a shared include) so every page gets it.
Step 4: Test like a subscriber
- Subscribe with a personal address; confirm the confirmation/thank-you email arrives.
- Check the form on a phone.
- Make sure the welcome sequence fires — templates in Your First Welcome Email Sequence.
Step 5: Update your privacy policy
Once you collect emails, say so in your privacy page: what you collect, which provider stores it, and how to unsubscribe.
